Finger Lakes Wine of the Week:

Goose Watch Winery Pinot Noir Brut Rosé

By Nicholas Baldwin

If you’re planning on staying up until the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve with a glass of bubbly in one hand and a noisemaker in the other, the Finger Lakes offers a number of sparkling wines to sip on while ringing in 2016. The choices vary from dry méthode champenoise sparklers to fun and fruity styles. One great choice from Cayuga Lake is the N/V Goose Watch Winery Pinot Noir Brut Rosé.

This is a dry style sparkling wine the boasts a rich pink color and would be clearly visible in your flute from across the room. It has small bubbles that caress your tongue, giving it an almost creamy feeling. It is light to medium in body with bright and lively acid. It had aromas of sweet cherry pie, strawberries and tart rhubarb pie. The finish is dry and long with tarter cherry notes. This wine retails for under $20 and would be a perfect Finger Lakes sparkling to share and impress your friends with this New Year’s Eve.
